BBC Proms: Words and Music
For the first time ever, we’re going to be performing at the BBC Proms! Not in London, but at home in Wales for the first ever BBC Prom at Theatr Clwyd in Mold.
An afternoon sequence exploring the connections and communicative powers of words and music, inspired by the themes of legend and folklore. Among the prose and poetry excerpts lies an excursion into the fantastical medieval folk tales of The Mabinogion. A moment to spark the imagination and a shared experience to transcend the everyday.
For this concert, our orchestra of 31 talented under–30 musicians is joined by conductor Iwan Davies, the Artistic Director of Musicfest Aberystwyth, one of Wales’s leading music festivals, where he curates an exciting and diverse programme of artists from around the world.
The concert will also be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and available via BBC Sounds, including on demand.
