Travel the musical world with Sinfonia Cymru’s new season in Newport

Our popular series of lunchtime concerts at the Riverfront, Newport, returns this Autumn.
From Mozart to Arabic song and Japanese flute music, it’s your chance to experience music from all around the world, but rooted here in Wales.
These afternoon concerts are a great way to spend a relaxed lunchtime – with options to add tea, cake, lunch or even a cheeky Wednesday G&T.
Here’s the info on all four concerts between September and December:
Music for Piano and Wind Instruments
This intimate musical conversation combines piano and five wind instruments – flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn. At the heart of the programme is the first movement of Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds – a work the composer himself regarded as one of his greatest achievements.

Songs We Carry
Special guests Ana Silvera, Saied Silbak and Patrick Rimes join us for the premiere of an expanded version of Ana and Saied’s acclaimed Songs We Carry project. Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) and Arabic music meet Welsh songs for a rich and varied exploration of music from different cultures.

Kizuna/ Cyswllt: flute and harp concert
Dive into a world where Welsh valleys meet Japanese forests in this flute and harp concert, curated by flautist Mina Middleton. You’ll enjoy a musical journey filled with folk melodies from Japan and Wales, influenced by the natural and historic landscapes and timeless traditions of both nations.

Christmas Concert Classics and Carols
Get into the Festive spirit at our gently uplifting Christmas concert, with music to warm your heart on a cold December day. As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, let our programme of classical favourites and beloved carols wrap you in the joy of the season.
