Players’ Picks – Trio for Oboe, Bassoon & Piano, Poulenc
Published Monday 23 August 2021We wanted to create more music videos for you and also give our wind players a chance to shine. So, we asked them to choose their favourite pieces from the wind repertoire. The result is a selection of short solos, duos and trios covering a range of composers and musical styles.
We gave oboist Amy Roberts two choices because she helped us organise the project. This Poulenc Trio for Oboe, Bassoon & Piano is regarded by some as his first major chamber work. Dedicated to Manuel de Falla, it was premiered in Paris in 1927 with Poulenc at the piano.
