Trumpet Sensation

Thursday 17 November 2022 - Sunday 20 November 2022

Still only 23, Lucienne Renaudin Vary already has an incredible career as a classical and jazz trumpeter. Described, quite rightly, as a ‘trumpet sensation’ she has won awards for her playing from a very early age. Conductors and other artists marvel at her talents and her exceptional musicality.

This programme combines classical repertoire with jazz influenced music from the streets of France and New York. In the first half you’ll hear the small ensemble version of Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and the sensational Hummel Trumpet Concerto. The orchestra opens the second half with Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin before we switch moods with pieces taken from her album with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Mademoiselle in New York, arranged by Bill Elliot.

‘Don’t miss this’ is an overused cliché. But really, don’t miss this – these performances are going to be very special.
