Songs for the Earth

Sunday 3 April 2022

This is how Sunday afternoons should be spent – sitting back, relaxing, soaking up great music.

Songs for the Earth is a folk classical fusion, inspired by our need to connect with nature and the outdoors. Curated by violinist Bridget O’Donnell and guest jazz-bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado, this programme includes arrangements of folk music from Celtic traditions and world cultures from South America to Eastern Europe. This performance will take you on a journey, linking the spirit of folk music to nature, the seasons, and the ways we connect with the outdoors through walking, gardening, observing and just being.

During three sets of music, each one lasting twenty minutes, a five-piece string group drawn from Sinfonia Cymru’s supremely talented young professional musicians will take you through a range of folk-inspired pieces; some of them you will know, some maybe not. Upbeat, informal, entertaining. A relaxed performance, suitable for all ages.
